Our round up of the latest social media updates that are worth knowing about.
- Bluesky
There is a new social media platform on the horizon, and it’s creating quite a buzz. The huge controversies surrounding Twitter since Elon Musk bought the platform began has led to many longing for an alternative platform… enter Bluesky.
Unsurprisingly being dubbed Twitter 2.0, the platform is funded by former Twitter CEO and founder Jack Dorsey.
Currently operating an “invite only” model and receiving rave reviews from users, it currently offers many of the same features as Twitter. Users can post short text and photo updates, and reply to each other and share each other’s posts. There is no functionality to DM, or even post GIFs, but the app is still in development.
The platform is “decentralised”, meaning people may eventually be able to build their own apps and communities within it, and it has been designed in a way so that no individual can create rules for the entire Bluesky community.
Take note, Mr Musk…
- TikTok
In a bid to drive sustainability awareness, TikTok has announced that it will begin implementing a new climate change misinformation policy. The aim of this is to extend the efforts of Earth Day and take steps towards combatting any posts undermining the existence of climate change or factors that contribute to it. TikTok will partner with independent fact-checking services to help with this process.
In a move that will help businesses maximise opportunities by attracting new customers and increasing website traffic, LinkedIn has introduced custom Call To Actions for Premium Business account holders.
Currently, only 6% of LinkedIn members hold Premium Business account, which is comparatively good take up for a social media subscription.
